There are about 40 known species of seahorses living in tropical and temperate coastal waters all around the world. Seahorses prefer to swim in pairs with their tails linked together. They have no teeth and no stomach, and food passes through their digestive systems so quickly that they must eat almost constantly to stay alive. Male seahorses are the ones who give birth. Females lay their eggs in the males’ pouch for them to fertilize internally, and they give birth 2-3 weeks later.
