------------------------

American crows live throughout most of the United States and parts of Canada. These noisy birds are often recognizable by their distinctive, loud cry, called a caw. They eat almost anything, including from insects and small animals such as frogs to fruit and nuts. The crows gather in large numbers in winter to sleep in communal roosts, which can be a few hundred up to tens of thousands. Some roosts have been congregating in the same general area for well over 100 years. Crows are known as some of the smartest animals in the world, with their intelligence being considered on par with chimpanzees.
